Departing from Gatwick
Fly direct to Helsinki. On arrival join the transfer to your hotel where you will spend 3 nights.
Helsinki: One of Europes most modern and forward thinking capitals, this young city became Finland's capital in 1812. Being located on a peninsula, wherever you go you won't be far from the sea. Take the ferry over to Suomenlinna (Castle of Finland) an 18th-century fort and UNESCO World Heritage site built on six islands opposite Helsinki city centre. Originally commissioned by the Swedes to deter Russian attacks, it is no longer used by the military and today has an open-air theatre, museum, various restaurants and craft stores.
Helsinki: The oldest part of Helsinki is around Senate Square dominated by four main buildings, Helsinki Cathedral, the University of Helsinki, the Government Palace and the National Library of Finland. Designed to encourage links between religious, political, commercial and scientific powers, this unique and beautiful square is the centre for culture, arts and is home to many festivals and concerts.
Join the transfer from your hotel to the airport for the flight from Helsinki to Stockholm. (Depart Helsinki 1600 arrive Stockholm 1600) On arrival in Stockholm join the transfer to your hotel where you will spend 3 nights.
Stockholm: Set against a sparkling harbour-side backdrop, Gamla Stan is Stockholm's picturesque and atmospheric Old Town. Amidst the centuries-old cobbled streets and beautiful squares, you’ll find many of the city’s most important buildings and monuments including the Houses of Parliament, City Hall, Cathedral and the Royal Palace, where the colourful Changing of the Guard ceremony provides the ultimate in Swedish pomp and tradition.
Stockholm: For a break from the city life, you could take to the water and enjoy an hour's boat ride across the archipelago to the island of Lovön. Here you will find Drottningholm Palace, the official royal residence of the Swedish monarchy and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in the 17th century, this is one of Sweden’s best-preserved royal palaces and well worth a visit, not least for its stunning architectural detail, but for the 18th-century Court Theatre and Chinese Palace (Kina Slott), that stand in its magnificent grounds.
Make your own way to the railway station for the journey by rail to Oslo. (Depart 1106 arrive 1623) On arrival make your own way to your hotel where you will spend 3 nights.
Oslo: One of the most popular attractions is the Vigelandsparken Sculpture Park. Entry is free and it shows 212 sculptures by Gustav Vigeland, including a 14-metre high sculpture, consisting of 121 human figures.
Oslo: If art is your thing, then a visit to the National Gallery (Nasjonalgalleriet) is a must. The gallery is renowned for its magnificent collection of Norwegian artworks, in particular works from the 19th-century National Romantic Period as well as those by Edvard Munch, with pride of place going to his most recognisable masterpiece, The Scream.
