Krakow: Krakow is known as Poland's "Capital of
Culture" and has numerous excellent museums. The National Museum and the
Czartoryskis Museum boast valuable collections of art, ancient handicrafts and
memorabilia connected with historical figures. A visit to Wawel Castle and
Cathedral perched on top of Wawel Hill cannot fail to inspire visitors.
Krakow: Today’s full-day excursion takes you out of the city
on a poignant journey of remembrance to Auschwitz, a name synonymous with
tragedy, persecution and mass genocide. The largest of the World War II
concentration and extermination camps, Auschwitz-Birkenau was specifically
designed as a death camp not only for Jews but also for Poles, gypsies, Russian
prisoners of war and other nationalities deemed fit to be there by the Nazi
regime. Reaching Auschwitz after a 90-minute drive from Krakow, you’ll have an
in-depth guided tour in English of both Auschwitz and Birkenau (including
transportation between the two camps), lasting approximately three and a half
hours. This is a thoroughly moving and utterly memorable tour that will
resonate for years to come.
Make your own way to the railway station for the journey by
rail to Warsaw where you will spend 3 nights. Journey time approximately 2hrs
Warsaw: Overlooking the Vistuala River, it's hard to believe
that Warsaw's prestigious Royal Castle was only completed in 1984, having been
meticulously resurrected from its World War II ruins.
Warsaw: The natural heart of the Old Town, Old Town Square
(Rynek Starego Miasta) was razed to the ground during World War II, yet has
since emerged as a spectacular architectural blend of baroque, Renaissance and
Gothic styles and a vibrant and atmospheric meeting point.
