Pintor El Greco in Toledo

Our opinion… Occupying a typical 17th century town house, the hotel offers modern amenities with a mix of classic and modern décor.

Location… This hotel is situated in the traditional Jewish quarter of the old town of Toledo, close to the Museo del Greco and the city's landmark, the cathedral with its 90 metre-tall north tower. Countless entertainment and popular shopping venues can be reached in just a few minutes walk.

Accommodation… The light and welcoming rooms come with a private bathroom, a hairdryer and a king-sized bed. Further fittings include a direct dial telephone, satellite TV, a hire safe and a minibar.

Facilities… Breakfast room and cocktail bar.

Transport… There is a stop for public transport to be found in the vicinity lying approximately 100 m from the hotel.

The Pintor El Greco is in a superb location in Toledo with lots to do and see around it. Firstly the hotel which was just a €7 taxi ride from the moorish inspired railway station. On arrival we took advantage of a room upgrade which on reflection we regretted! The room we upgraded to was excellent but what we did not realise was that it overlooked the bar which generated a deal of noise late at night / early morning! We complained but to no avail although we did get a small reund on the extra paid. Positive points, the breakfast room was very attractive and the coffee machine provided an excellent product with the usual cold buffet. The hotel areas were very well kept but we were out virtually all the time so did not really use them. Secondly the area this hotel was in was the Jewish Quarter and there is a great deal to see here. Stepping out of the hotel you were virtually in the El Greco museum which is a must see and is just €2.5 or €5 as a double ticket with the Museo Sefardi, a synagogue next door. Further down is the Monastery San Juan de los Reyes and also nearby the Puente de San Martin over the River Tajo. If you wish you can zipwire over the river from this location! The hotel is a steady 10 to 15 minute walk from the main Zocodover Square where a road train gives a tour of the city outskirts with some great views. But then we come to the star of the show Toledo Cathedral which is fabulous and has so many wow factors with the High Altar being the star but there is also an art gallery in the Sacristry with many El Greco's and for €8 this was fantastic.  All in all we loved it here. Probably wouldn't visit again as we did most things but would not hesitiate to thorughly recommend. Then onto Madrid, I have done another page!!
