Hanza in Riga

Our opinion… An excellent choice of hotel for those wishing to stay in central Riga.

Location… Located in the centre of Riga, close to Riga's central market and the bus/train station. This hotel is a 5-10 minute gentle stroll to the old town.

Accommodation… Rooms are of a good size and standard and decorated in light wood and natural colours. All rooms come with en-suite facilities, air conditioning, hairdryer and satellite television.

Facilities… The hotel restaurant offers a range of local Latvian and international dishes.

Hotel good but no dining room or bar. Restaurant only open for breakfast.
September 2016
Excellent hotel - within short walking distance of the "Old Town".
September 2016
Hotel too far from all attractions & bars & restaurants. Run down area with lots of beggars & dunks etc. Didn't feel safe out at night so used taxis a lot. Would prefer city location.

This is a comfortable hotel without frills (no fridge, no kettle). It's location is excellent for the fabulous covered market and the central train station in Riga. It is not in the Old Town but the advantage of this is that it's quiet at night. Good, free parking too.

Close to Old Town. Clean comfortable hotel. Staff very helpful
April 2016
Room, bed service etc all very good. out only TINY moan - no hooks to hang coats on (very common in hotels). Breakfast truly excellent - buffet very extensive, constantly replenished. Staff very polite & helpful. We particularly loved the SILENCE - no unnecessary music in foyer or at breakfast - so unusual these day & so welcome. TV news was on - but no volume - thank you.
October 2015
A bit far from the Old Town (dependant on your walking ability).

Comfortable and clean room. Helpful and friendly staff. Good breakfast.

After Cologne the Christmas Markets in Riga do not compare. We enjoyed our stay, Hotel Hanza is about 10 minutes walk to the main food market buildings and about 15 minutes into the old town which is definitely worth visiting. They have done a great job of conserving and rebuilding after WW2. A long weekend was enough time in December but it was a great excuse to visit many cafes and bars to warm up! People were very helpful and engaging.
July 2014
Hotel a bit out of town, but only a 10 minute walk. No restaurants near the hotel, rooms nice and clean. Breakfast great, may have to wait but breakfast served until 12 weekends!
March 2013
Friendly hotel with very good breakfast and excellent dining at reasonable price. Waiters very helpful and efficient. Rooms clean and quiet. Good location only 5 minutes walk from Old Town.
