Assisi: Birthplace of St Francis, Assisi is a simple and peaceful town with a rich religious heritage. It was the birthplace of St. Francis, who founded the Franciscan religious order in the town in 1208, and St. Clare (Chiara d'Offreducci), the founder of the Poor Sisters, which later became the Order of Poor Clares after her death. The 19th-century Saint Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows was also born in Assisi.

Arezzo: Believed to be one of the twelve main Etrucan cities, Arezzo was later absorbed into the Roman Empire. Arezzo's greatest artistic treasure is the set of frescoes by Piero della Francesca called La Leggenda della Vera Croce, in the church of San Francesco.
Make your own way to the station for the journey by rail to Perugia where you will spend 3 nights. (Journey time approximately 1hr 10mins.)
Perugia: Start your discovery of the city at the medieval Cattedrale di San Lorenzo. A church has stood here since the 900s, but the version you see today was begun in 1345 from designs created by Fra Bevignate. If you want to feel like a local, take a seat on the steps in front of the facade which overlook the piazza's centrepiece, the delicate pink-and-white marble Fontana Maggiore.
Perugia: The hilltop town centre is a good place to explore medieval lanes and find buildings.
